WHY “ FENCING IS THE WAY” ?
The name of my initiative, "Fencing is the Way," is a play on the Mandalorian mantra "This is the Way." I ended up using this line several times; for example, when I had a lot of schoolwork or was tired but still insisted that my parents take me to fencing practice. It became our inside joke, and my parents used this line as well to encourage me to eat healthier and sleep better. I truly believe that, for me, fencing has been the way.
And I believe that for me, fencing has truly been the way.
MY MISSION
I hope this website gives you a small glimpse into the world of Fencing and how you can be a part of it.

AWARENESS
Fencing is an uncommon sport, which is not usually televised, and so several people have not heard about it. At times, it is pictured as a fancy-schmancy sport in movies, so people miss out on trying it! Its benefits and some cool facts can be found on the Resources and About Me pages.
-
PARTICIPATION
Most students begin playing sports such as volleyball or soccer in early childhood. This long training ensures they are already skilled and successful when they reach varsity level sports. I believe that introducing children and parents to the sport of fencing at a young age can create committed, competitive fencers.

ACCESS
Accessibility is key in any sport to ensure the best and most passionate players representing the fabric of our society can play the sport of their choice. Unfortunately, this sport does not lend itself to neighborhood parks, or local courts, but requires specialized clubs with memberships and coaching fees and a lot of equipment – all of which are obstacles for those who are just looking to try the sport. I believe that children of all backgrounds should have the opportunity to try out fencing.
WATCH OUR VIDEO
Fencing is a fast-paced, strategic game where two opponents duel using swords like foil, épée, or sabre. Players score points by making precise touches on their opponent while defending themselves. It combines agility, skill, and quick thinking, making it an exciting and challenging sport enjoyed worldwide.
